Located at 118 South Hazelwood Avenue, Rocky Ridge Gardens was previously the location of a boarded home. Following the house’s demolition, the lot was transformed by the neighbors and has become a source of pride in Rocky Ridge.

Establishing this community garden space was one of the first projects for the newly formed Rocky Ridge Neighborhood Association. The former house, boarded and uncared for, had a major hole in the roof, indicating its beyond-repair conditions inside. Mowing the overgrown lawn was a first step.
A little hard work…

…has come a long way.
Features of Rocky Ridge Gardens are flower and vegetable beds, fruit and shade trees, a wisteria-covered pergola with benches, picnic table, storage shed, and a Little Free Library.
As part of Youngstown CityScape’s annual Streetscape planting day, neighborhood volunteers help shed the winter/spring’s untidiness and rally to weed, rake, prune, plant, mulch, and water the gardens back to life.
Thanks to those who have generously helped to maintain the Rocky Ridge Gardens over the years. We invite all neighbors to enjoy its beauty and relaxing urban oasis!
